Key Stage 5 curriculum

“We offer a diverse range of study programmes for our Post 16 learners, which reflects our school motto of ‘All different, all equal’.”

All sixth form students at Kenton are encouraged to take a minimum of three A Level or equivalent course. Where some students have not achieved grades at Level 2, particularly in GCSE English and Maths they are still able to take a Level 3 course where it is appropriate, or they have shown the ability to complete Level 2 in that subject. All our courses can be blended, some may take a purely academic route, or a purely vocational route, but a large number of our students mix and match between these two.

Some students may not be ready for Level 2 qualifications in their entirety so we offer Level 1 opportunities in Year 12. We also offer specific individual SEND support for students, that can be adapted to fit with their needs and ensure they progress.

In addition, all students will take part in enrichment activities as part of our ’20 things to do before you leave Sixth Form’. This includes the opportunity for both virtual and in person work experience as well as challenges or occasions to have an involvement in an activity that may not be available to all.

We work with Uptree, Global Bridge and Speakers 4 schools to provide a host of excellent initiatives to support career pathways, apprenticeship information and also motivational and aspirational goals through speaking to individuals directly who are at the pinnacle of their field. The most recent of these was Anne Longfield, the Children’s Commissioner for England.
