What is the course structure?
Students study 3 topics over the 2 years of the course. 2 of these are assessed internally through coursework tasks and 1 is externally assessed through exams. Together the coursework tasks account for 50% of the final marks, as does the exam.
What will I study?
This qualification is designed for learners with an interest in health and fitness. It will provide learners with experience of using different training techniques and methods to enable them to use these within further education or apprenticeships. It will also provide them with the opportunity to develop and experience their own fitness programme.
R019 – Understanding the Equipment and Nutritional Needs of Children (coursework)
During this unit you will learn about equipment required to care for children up to 5 years old. You will analyse the nutritional needs of children before completing a practical feeding task.
R020 – Understanding the Development of a Child (coursework)
During this unit you will learn about the physical, intellectual and social norms of children up to 5 years old. You will analyse the types of play before planning and carrying out a practical activity task.
R018 – Health and Wellbeing for Child Development (exam)
During this unit you will learn about factors which can influence children before birth along with a variety of antenatal care needs. You will learn the process of birth and postnatal care for mothers and babies and about Illnesses and safety.
How is the course assessed?
The course is assessed through a variety of coursework essays, practical tasks and an exam.
