What is the course structure?
Learners will cover a range of topics in relation to both small businesses and large businesses including starting a small business or the different type of business organisations, finance, marketing, people and operational management.
What will I study?
Learners will develop a range of skills including presentation, communication, problem solving and leadership.
Learners are required to be committed to their learning and their revision of the topics. They will be required to work well in teams and have good communication and presentation skills. Good numeracy and good literacy skills are required.
How is the course assessed?
Assessment is more traditional:
Unit 1 – Starting a Small Business Examination
Unit 2 – Growing as a Business Examination (External examination)
Unit 3 – Investigating Business (Controlled Assessment)
Topics detailed above, will be covered in lessons in preparation for the two examinations. The controlled assessment will be 5-8 hours of research based on the theory learnt in class followed by a three hour write up of these findings under controlled conditions.
