What is the course structure?
The AS Edexcel course consists of 2 core Pure Mathematics modules, C1 and C2, and one additional module S1. You can then go on to take A2 GCE Mathematics by completing three further units C3, C4 and D1.
What will I study?
In the Pure modules C1 and C2, you will study proof, algebra and functions, trigonometry, geometry, sequences and series, numerical methods and the calculus. The Statistics module includes correlation and regression, discrete distributions and the normal distribution.
How is the course assessed?
Assessment takes place in June. All examination papers last 1 hour 30 minutes. Each unit is worth one third of an AS or one sixth of an A2. There is a 4 week subject compatibility period. At the end of this there is a test to check if the learner is capable of continuing.
