What is the course structure?
There are four units, three of which are predetermined, the final one will be selected for study during the second year.
Unit 1: Investigating Practitioners
You will study, explore and perform the works of famous practitioners from the Performing Arts, before writing a final essay on your findings.
Unit 2: Developing Skills and Techniques for Live Performance
Using your specialism, you will develop a greater understanding of this area of performing arts through workshops, rehearsals and performances.
Unit 3: Group Workshop Performance
Over a 4 week window you will be given a stimulus and must create a 10 minute performance piece as a group in response to this. You will document the process through log-books and rehearsals before a final performance.
What will I study?
You will be expected to study the three disciplines of Music, Dance & Drama and take part in all aspects of our school productions. These include the final performances but also regular attendance at all rehearsals.
Units covered are:
Singing Skills for Actors & Dancers
The Principles of Acting
Musical Theatre Performance
Performing to an Audience
How is the course assessed?
You will receive regular interim assessments, but your final grades will be awarded on your attendance at rehearsals, keeping and up-to-date rehearsal log/diary and your final 'live' performance in front of an audience at one of our shows.
